Questions:

  1. What occurred during the same time as the beginning of the decline of women in computer science?
  2. Why does it matter that males had been playing on computers growing up?

Answers:

  1. When personal computers started showing up in U.S. homes in significant numbers. (Marketed to men and boys)
  2. It showed that because the men were using computers growing up, they had an advantage of using a device like that.

Ask the Question

Questions:

  1. When are diversity efforts most successful?
  2. Why do diverse companies perform better?
  3. Give an example of how a diverse company can serve a diverse user base or vise-versa.

Answers:

  1. When they’re driven by a commitment from company leaders.
  2. It brings in different ways of seeing a problem and better ways to solve them.
  3. Users have a choice to input their languages, accessibility needs and having a platform that lets them use that info.
